Pre-Installation Checklist

  • Temperature needs to be maintained between 68-70 degrees for 24 hours prior to installation.  Failure to do so may void your installation warranty.

  • Installers will need access to electricity and space to cut and store flooring materials as they work through the job. 

  • Hardwood, laminate, or luxury vinyl products may need to be delivered to the jobsite prior to install so it can acclimate to the environment.

  • Rooms and closets that will be resurfaced must be emptied prior to the arrival of the installer, unless otherwise noted in estimate.

  • Remove any valuable/fragile items.  It is the customer’s responsibility to remove any items subject to breakage, such as TVs, radio/audio equipment, glass/décor items, aquariums, dishes, grandfather clocks, etc.  Please be sure to disconnect and move electronics, appliances, or computers, unless otherwise noted in the estimate.

  • Clear the walls by removing hanging pictures, mirrors, drapes, wall art/décor, etc.

  • Bedrooms-all beds that require assembly must be disassembled and reassembled by the customer.  Please remove all items from closet floors and any low hanging items up to 3 feet.

  • Kitchens, bathrooms, utility areas – disconnection and reconnection of gas appliances or waterlines, including toilets, is the responsibility of the customer, unless otherwise specified in the estimate.  Please let us know if we can assist with information for a plumber.

  • The Flooring Store cannot be held responsible for any damage to items installed directly below subfloors and/or the perimeter of a room.  This includes, but not limited to, plumbing, HVAC, electrical wiring/cables/telephone wiring.

  • We recommend painting be completed prior to flooring installation.  Touch ups may be needed after installation.

  • Baseboards, molding, etc. can generally be left in place, unless otherwise noted in estimate.  Minor abrasions to the walls or moldings from movement of materials may occur.  Our installers make every effort to minimize damage and greatly appreciate your understanding.

  • Carpet installation-existing tack and metal strips will be reused/replaced if necessary.

Please clean up after pets and ensure they have a safe space during installation.
